Brad Maddox

My name is Brad Maddox and I'm currently an Instructor & Brown Belt under my Master  - Professor Marcello C. Monteiro-

I began training in submission fighting & NHB around 2001. In early 2003 the people I trained with moved away &I was left with nobody to train with. I called my friend Leon {Buddy} Lewis& asked if he knew of any people, he told me that their was this guy named Marcello who he started with &I should give him a call.  

I got the number & called Marcello.  He asked me if I ever trained before & I told him about my background.He was really interested in getting together with me.  I went to his academy the next day; He evaluated me & told me my submissions were really good, but that Ididn’t have the right technique.

We talked for some time about my goals & what I wanted to get out of training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. It was there & then I knew that he was to be my instructor. His knowledge & extreme attention to the smallest details was insane.  The manner in which he could keep your attention & encourage you to have fun can't be mirrored.  He pays close attention to everyone in class from the beginner to the most advanced student. Monteirao makes sure everyone understands the full technique before moving on to the next move.

I knew from the beginning that Iwouldn’t be a world champion in bjj.  I fought in a handful of tournaments & always placed 2nd & 3rd, but my passion was always to help others.  It was after sparring & helping others in class that Monteirao had me stay after class to talk about things.  He told me that he sees something special in me, that I will be a good player but a great bjj instructor &I should start teaching people in Crawfordsville where I live.  It was a very special feeling to have the man I look up to give me such an honor. I got promoted to my Blue Belt & opened up my academy in 2004.  Since then I’ve had the honor to produce champions in local & state tournaments.                                   

After many years of filming techniques with various students, Monteirao finally made the best Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Curriculum around I follow it to the fullest when instructing my students.    I still learn from Marcello on a regular basis & he guides me in the right direction to become a better bjj player & a better instructor.  I’m very honored to be part of the best bjj association  - M.C.M.B.J.J.A- Teaching & training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu has made me a better person & has taught me to thing 3 steps ahead in everything I do in life. For this I owe a lot to Monteirao &I plan on doing bjj for the rest of my life under the guidance of my friend & instructor Marcello C. Monteiro.  

I'm very glad I made that call 6yrs ago because not only did I find the best Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy & Instructor around but I also made a best friend
